Gemini (Gemini), Micromeritics, (USA) is a series of automatic express analyzers of specific surface area (from 0.01 m2/g) and porosity. Analysis time for five points according to the BET method - 10 min.

GEMINI series analyzers use a static volumetric analysis method with an adapted rate. That is, the rate of gas entry to the sample is determined by the maximum rate at which the sample can adsorb it.

Micromeritics' Gemini VII 2390 Surface Area Analyzers quickly and reliably produce accurate and reproducible surface area and porosity measurements. Low cost, speed, ease of use, reliability and durability have made Gemini a place in laboratories around the world as an essential tool for research and quality control.

Advantages:

Innovative technology: Gemini uses a unique dosing algorithm with adaptive speed. Speed and sensitivity are unmatched by other static volumetric instruments.

Accuracy: Micromeritics has invented a balancing tube design that negates headspace errors caused by temperature gradient changes or initial mismeasurement of headspace. Gemini allows low surface area measurements without the use of krypton, and the use of a servo valve controls the gas flow rate into the sample tube to accurately achieve the target pressure without overshoot.

Fast results: The sample controls the gas flow rate, which speeds up the sample gas flow. As a result, the specific surface area analyzer works as fast as adsorption physics allows. Training videos provide instructions on how to operate the instrument, reducing the learning curve for new users. Clear installation videos and system verification tests ensure optimum performance and reliability.

Configurations:

Gemini VII 2390a: Ideal for fast and accurate determination of surface area with single and multi-point BET and Langmuir methods. In addition, standard methods for determining total pore volume, micropore t-method analysis and much more are provided. Ability to determine the statistical thickness of the surface area (STSA) of carbon black is included. (See ASTM D 6556, ASTM D 3765, ISO/DIS 18852.2 or ISO/CD 4652-2/3.)

Gemini VII 2390p: Provides additional accuracy with the addition of a saturation pressure (Po) tube that allows the system to continuously monitor adsorbent saturation pressure during analysis. This design feature allows you to quickly measure the adsorption isotherm almost to saturation, as well as determine the pore size distribution.

Gemini VII 2390t: Has all the features of the 2390p, including the Po tube, with the addition of a larger Dewar and longer vessels for advanced assays. This provides an additional opportunity to measure the entire adsorption-desorption process. With this data set, BJH or Dollimore-Heal pore size distribution can be performed using up to 1000 data points.

Software

There are three types of software to control GEMINI analyzers:

Embedded software. Allows controlling the analyzers of the GEMINI series without connecting an external computer. In this case, the device is controlled from a small special keyboard and the analysis results are output to a printer that is also connected directly to the analyzer. This configuration is usually used when placing the device in workshops where it is difficult to use an external computer or there is little space required to place the device. However, in this case the number of files with the conditions and results of the analysis is limited since they are stored only in the instrument's memory.

Software in WINDOWS environment. In this case, the device is controlled by a computer with software in the WINDOWS environment. With the help of the program you can create an unlimited number of files with analysis conditions, installation files and use them again and again. Files for each sample can be saved and reused later for sample comparison or new analysis. These features reduce analysis time and increase productivity. The data for each sample is automatically calculated and printed both in tabular and graphical form. In addition, the multitasking of the operating system allows performing other tasks on the same computer.

21 CFR Part 11 special software. Software in the WINDOWS environment developed according to the FDA (USA) standards for analysis in the pharmaceutical and food industries with the output of results in a special format of this standard.

Additional equipment for degassing:

FlowPrep 060 and VacPrep 061 degassers are available as accessories for Gemini analyzers. FlowPrep 060 is capable of heating the sample in an inert gas stream to remove contaminants from the surface. VacPrep 061 degasser uses heating with vacuum or inert gas purge. Both systems are compact, easy to use and allow up to 6 samples to be prepared simultaneously, increasing analyzer performance.
